With impressive changes for a mere mid-cycle refresh, the 2017 Subaru Forester looks to add a new kind of spice to the compact SUV segment in Washington, Canonsburg, Bethel Park, Pittsburgh PA, and Wheeling, WV--and anyone planning to upgrade their vehicle this summer should listen up.

Earlier this month, we detailed changes to the 2017 WRX, another model in its mid-cycle product life, that were relatively minor.

But the Forester sees bigger updates from front to back. While this legendary SUV keeps its standard 170-horsepower BOXER engine and Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive, it now offers up to 32 mpg on the highway with Subaru's smooth CVT. Even the 250-horsepower turbocharged engine offers up to 28 mpg on the highway.

What's New for the 2017 Subaru Forester?

  • New front bumper and fascia design
  • New design for rear tail lamps
  • Thicker door glass and innovative soundproofing makes for a quieter and more peaceful cabin
  • Advanced driver-assist systems like Rear Cross Traffic Alert (RCTA) and Reverse Automatic Braking (RAB) available with optional EyeSight
  • Retuned steering and suspension for sharper handling
  • Available Torque Vectoring on Forester XT Touring with EyeSight
